The dimensions and load characteristics of the road springs fitted by Alvis to the various models of FWD are summarised in the following tables. It is important to note that the long chassis cars have more leaves in the rear springs, and the FD and FE types have thicker rear spring leaves. Some adaptation would be necessary if swapping parts between these models.
On the front springs, the lengths of the top and bottom main leaves were exactly equal on the FA/FB models, but on the FD/FE there was a 4mm difference, giving about 1 degree of extra camber to the wheels. The rest of the camber comes from the downwards angle of the wheel hubs relative to the steering swivel axes, about 2 degrees, giving a total camber of about 3 degrees on these later models.

Note that the FE Rear Spring drawing contains an error in that the increment in length between the top four leaves should be 1.375 inch, not 1.1875 inch. You may never need to know that for your work on your FWD, but you may need it if the FWD Alvis is to be your specialist subject on "Mastermind".
